Position 

Mechanic (Automobile) 

Overview 

Reports to V P of Fleet Maintenance  

The Mechanic must perform maintenance and minor repairs for a fleet of foreign and domestic classic cars. 

The primary responsibility of the Mechanic is to perform the repairs, ensure quality of repairs and keep all cars in running condition. This individual is responsible for all phases of maintenance, including meeting any deadlines or requests by the Fleet Maintenance Manager. 

Responsibilities 

• Must interface with VP of Maintenance and owner of the company 
• Must be able to maintain and repair Automatic and manual vehicles of all ages 
• Must be familiar with lighting, electrical, brake, carburetor, fuel, and transmission systems and services 
• Perform minor engine repairs to gas and diesel engines 
• Must trouble shoot (determine mechanical problems) with minimum supervision 
• Must perform all duties with a minimum of direct supervision. 
• Must have the ability to properly use necessary test equipment, hand power tools to satisfactorily perform their functions in a professional manner. 
• Read and interpret maintenance parts manuals and wire diagrams. 
• Do necessary paperwork in a neat manner so it is understandable. 
• Must be able to lift parts weighing as much as 50 lbs for proper removal and installation on vehicles.
• Comply with all law and regulations as well as company policies and procedures. 
• Support standards and decisions. 
• Forecast workloads. 
• Maintain records and logs of work needed and performed. 

Education 

Experience 

• 10 years experience with foreign and domestic cars 
• Experience with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on systems related to cars of all ages 
• Knowledge of industry known best practices for repairs 
• Ability to work independently  
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills 
• Problem solving and innovative thinking skills 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite excel spreadsheets and word
