Job Description Summary

The Estimator at Acterra Group plays a critical role in the accurate and efficient estimation of projects, specifically focusing on the construction and installation of above-ground fuel tanks. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of construction industry standards, with a particular emphasis on adherence to the Steel Tank Institute (STI) guidelines. The Estimator will utilize a specialized estimating software to ensure precise and reliable estimates.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough and detailed estimations for above-ground fuel tank projects, ensuring compliance with STI standards.**
• Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate and competitive project bids.**
• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimates.**
• Review and evaluate cost estimates, ensuring they accurately reflect the scope, timeline, and materials required for the project.**
• Stay abreast of industry trends and cost fluctuations to ensure up-to-date and accurate estimations.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations of estimates for review by senior management and clients.
• Assist in the negotiation and finalization of contracts based on estimated costs.
• Work closely with procurement and construction teams to monitor project progress and adjust estimates as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field – or equivalent experience.
• Additional certifications in estimating or project management, such as CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) or PMP, are beneficial.
• 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on fuel tank projects or similar government installations.
• 3-5 years of preferred experience in construction estimation for projects tied to the US Army Corp of Engineers.
• Proven proficiency in using Quadra estimating software or similar tools.
• Familiarity with construction industry standards, particularly STI guidelines for above-ground fuel tanks.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing project bids and cost estimates.
