Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and identify potential challenges or opportunities
- Utilize construction estimating software, such as AgTek and Blue Beam, to develop comprehensive cost estimates
- Prepare detailed take-offs and quantity surveys for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services
- Research and source pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost projections
- Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to determine the most competitive pricing options
- Collaborate with the project management team to develop project budgets and timelines
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures
- Prepare and present cost estimates to clients, highlighting key components and justifications
Experience:
- Proven experience in construction estimating or related field
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices
- Proficiency in cost control techniques and strategies
- Familiarity with industry-standard software such as AgTek and Blue Beam or similar estimating tools
- Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
- Project management experience is a plus
