Auditing Director executes a comprehensive enterprise-wide internal auditing strategy, function, and practice adhering to auditing standards and regulatory requirements. Uses auditing governance frameworks and procedures to plan and manage the auditing schedules, projects, teams, and tasks required to meet defined objectives. Being an Auditing Director engages with other functions across the enterprise, like risk, finance, information technology, and security, to facilitate audits. Prepares audit reports and recommends enhanced controls or processes as needed. Additionally, Auditing Director builds auditing teams and expertise with coaching and developmental initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). May sometimes require Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Typically reports to a director. The Auditing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.   • The Fargo Youth Hockey Association is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the non-profit to a newfound level of excellence.

    Founded in 1988, the Fargo Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) has been an integral part of the community for more than 36 years and became the parent organization for the Fargo Freeze in 2011. The mission of the FYHA is to promote, develop and administer a youth hockey program by providing an environment that makes hockey fun, offering high quality coaching, ice time for skill development and exposure to advanced competition opportunities.

    In support of Fargo Youth Hockey Association’s mission and vision, the Executive Director will serve as the face and the voice of FYHA and is responsible for overseeing the financial wealth and the administration and operation of the organization’s strategic plan. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and successfully executing fundraising strategies, leverage the FYHA inventory for advertising and sponsorship, ensure quality programs/events, serve as chief culture-building representative and will be instrumental in developing healthy communication and connection within FYHA and the community. The Executive Director will report directly to the President of the FYHA Board of Directors.

    This is a full-time, exempt position and it is expected the incumbent will either reside in the Fargo-Moorhead area, or commit to relocating to the Fargo-Moorhead area. Compensation will be based on experience. Medical benefits and an employer-contribution IRA plan are included in the compensation package. The executive director will also be supplied with a computer and phone stipend.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies
    • Proven track record of strategic planning, supervisory experience, financial management, and organizational development
    • Strong leadership, organization, sales and marketing and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain healthy/strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently with high levels of self-motivation
    • General knowledge of effective culture building strategies/plans
    • Passion for the mission of FYHA and commitment to making a difference

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    BOARD GOVERNANCE

    • Work with the Board of Directors (BOD) to fulfill the mission of the organization
    • Lead FYHA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the BOD.
    • Communicate effectively with the BOD and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the BOD to function properly and to make informed decisions
    • Attend meetings of the FYHA Board of Directors

    CUSTOMER & CULTURE ENGAGEMENT

    • Ensure an environment exists in which FYHA members (customers) receive the stated program offerings as advertised by the association
    • Formulate and integrate a plan to incorporate positive culture into the organization
    • Manage customer communication, both proactive and reactive, to address issues that arise within a timely manner
    • When not otherwise obvious in context, serve as main point of contact for FYHA
    • Assist in resolution of conflicts that arise within the organization
    • Ensure FYHA has a social media strategy to enhance its image and operations

    FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND VIABILITY

    • Serve as chief revenue officer for FYHA to include development of resources to ensure financial health of the organization
    • Spearhead and execute major fundraising campaign within FYHA and the Fargo-Moorhead community
    • Oversee staff and volunteers and participate in fundraising and marketing/sponsorship endeavors acting as the face of the organization
    • Develop other revenues necessary to support and enhance FYHA’s mission
    • Create and present an annual FYHA budget with the support of staff, board members, volunteers and vendors.

    ORGANIZATION MISSION & STRATEGY

    • Work with Board and staff to ensure that the FYHA mission is fulfilled throughout the company and its operations
    • Ensure implementation of FYHA’s non-hockey programs in an efficient manner
    • Maintain and consistently update, when necessary, a FYHA strategic plan to ensure FYHA can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future
    • Enhance FYHA’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations
    • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations -- locally, regionally and nationally -- and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance FYHA’s Mission

    ORGANIZATIONAL OPERATIONS

    • Oversee and implement appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate
    • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff and ongoing management of hired staff
    • Responsible for effective administration of FYHA operations day-to-day business operations
    • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization
    • Serve as de facto human resources director, establishing professional employment and administrative policies for FYHA employees and contractors
    • Review and evaluate staffing needs and performance on an annual basis
    • Serve as FYHA’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public
    • Establish an effective internal and external communication strategy/policy to ensure clear, consistent and concise communication is given
