Audiologist administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, and other professionals. Being an Audiologist may require Doctor of Audiology (Au. D.) in some states. Additionally, Audiologist requires a master's degree of Audiology. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Typically requires Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A). Requires applicable state license. Audiologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. POSITION: Audiologist
NATURE OF WORK:
The audiologist plans, directs and administers audiology services for the most effective use of services, personnel and/or materials. These services include diagnostic evaluations, direct service provision to deaf and hard of hearing children (age’s birth-21), management of assistive technology and technical/instructional support to regular and special education teachers working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
