Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, speech reception, and discrimination tests to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Being an Audiologist evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, and other professionals. Reviews charts, test results, and other patient data to understand issues and develop treatment programs to alleviate symptoms and treat disorders. Additionally, Audiologist monitors and evaluates treatment progress and adjusts care plan as necessary. Programs, fits, and adjusts hearing aids for customers. Nexus Therapy is now hiring for a part-time audiologist position for the 2024-2025 school year that pays $68 per hour! This position would be working with a great school district near beautiful Elko, Nevada. Initially, you'd be doing an on-site evaluation for an elementary-aged student with a suspected auditory processing disorder, writing a report, and attending the evaluation results meeting. Based on your recommendations, potential IEP therapy minutes could be then provided remotely, as needed. You can bill for $68 per hour for your time conducting the initial evaluation, writing the report, and attending the meeting. You would also be reimbursed for mileage if you were in a reasonable driving distance from Elko. Must be licensed as an audiologist in Nevada.
Duties:
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and assessments of students' hearing and balance
- Administer and interpret various tests, including audiograms, tympanograms, and otoacoustic emissions
- Provide counseling and education to students regarding hearing loss, treatment options, and communication strategies
- Fit and dispense hearing aids and other assistive listening devices
- Make recommendations for appropriate hearing rehabilitation services
- Maintain accurate and detailed student records
- Collaborate with other educational professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Audiology or related field
- Valid Nevada state license or certification as an Audiologist
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques used in audiology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
