Audiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a variety of hearing, balance, and ear disorders. Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, speech reception, and discrimination tests to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Being an Audiologist evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, and other professionals. Reviews charts, test results, and other patient data to understand issues and develop treatment programs to alleviate symptoms and treat disorders. Additionally, Audiologist monitors and evaluates treatment progress and adjusts care plan as necessary. Programs, fits, and adjusts hearing aids for customers. May require Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) in some states. Requires a master's degree in audiology. Typically requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A). Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of the Audiologist is to provide hearing health care services of the highest quality to exceed external and internal customer expectation and to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the medical office operations.
Essential Job Functions:
Administers comprehensive hearing and balance evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment, using specialized instruments and equipment. Manages the audiology function/department on a day to day basis, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, work methods and standards practice.
Completes documentation necessary to assure compliance with SFENTA policy, regulatory compliance and to maintain accuracy of patient medical records. Oversees activities to support effective marketing initiatives to increase awareness of available technology by educating patients, staff and referring physicians which will result in increased sales at the care center level.
