    Job Description Summary

    BASIC FUNCTION:

    Provide generalized audio visual (AV) assistance to campus community. Work as a member of a project team involving other support staff, including students. Work under close supervision of a manager or a project leader. Assist in training and supervision of student technicians on audio visual skills both of permanently installed systems and portable/ non-permanent systems.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintain and repair campus audio visual systems.

    Provide audio visual support services to live campus events.

    Assist in oversight of student workers.

    Provide training to campus community, as well as to other support technicians.

    Create informative documentation on audio visual systems for both internal team use and end-user instructional documents to assist in the use of AV equipment and installations.

    Work under the direction of Manager or their designee in audio visual system installations.

    Collaborate with technicians in other units of ITS and college departments.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work a non-standard schedule to fulfill assigned duties and responsibilities. Respond to technical emergencies outside of normal working hours as needed. As tasked, work at URI special Events outside of normal working hours.

    Weekend and evening work may be required to meet campus support needs.

    Maintain a high level of understanding of current developments in the assigned area of responsibility and anticipate future needs.

    As part of training, perform functions normally assigned to other department staff, although to a lesser extent.

    Perform other duties as required.

    LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

    Various audio-visual manufacturer software, IT service management tools, personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, powered hand tools, and Zoom/WebEx. Ability to lift 50 pounds (equipment, etc.)

    Required Qualifications
    REQUIRED:

    1. Bachelor’s degree.

    2. Minimum one year experience in audio visual support position or two years’ experience in a position that included a substantial amount (at least 50%) of audio visual Technology work (including as a student employee).

    3. Demonstrated knowledge of audio visual hardware such as switchers, receivers, and similar components.

    4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

    5. Demonstrated proficiency with written communication skills.

    6. Demonstrated customer service skills.

    7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

    8. Demonstrated experience using Unified Communication tools such as Zoom/WebEx/Microsoft Teams.

    9. Demonstrated ability to lift up to 50 pounds (equipment, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications
    PREFERRED:

    1. Demonstrated experience in higher education.

    2. Demonstrated experience using major AV brand control systems.

    3. Certification(s) from AV manufacturers or reputable industry source.

    4. Demonstrated experience terminating Category cables and other communication wiring.

    5. Demonstrated experience in setting up temporary AV solutions.

    6. Demonstrated experience conducting audio visual consultations or needs assessments.
