Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Midlands Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery has an opportunity for a Full-Time Certified Athletic Trainer in the clinical setting. Responsibilities to include taking patient histories, suture and staple removal and post-operative wound care, applying braces and orthopedic appliances and casting. ATC must be willing to learn how to apply and remove casts. Must be able to work in a fast-paced orthopaedic environment and have excellent communication and computer skills required.
