Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The Athletic Trainer specializes in the health care of athletes. The trainer plays a unique role in preventing, recognizing, managing, rehabilitating and educating the athlete/family in sports injuries. Athletic Trainers play a role in planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principals and practices of athletic training. In the occupational health clinic, the athletic trainer performs testing as part of pre-employment, post-accident and annual testing.
