The Weld RE-9 School District headquartered in Ault, Colorado has an open position for an Athletic/Activities Director.
Position Summary:
The Athletic/Activities Director provides administrative leadership in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for both the Middle and High School and serves as the coordinator for all events and activities in the district. The Athletic Director promotes extracurricular athletic activity that fosters skill development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for a variety of athletic activities and programs, teaming, and sportsmanship for students and adults.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hire coaching staff for HS/MS, ensure that coaches complete necessary hiring paperwork prior to starting the season, and evaluate coaching staff at the completion of each season
- Track and inventory athletic equipment and order new equipment and supplies as needed
- Schedule Athletic Contests and activity events for MS and HS sports and produce schedules and rosters for publication before the start of the season
- Maintain and update a usage calendar of school facilities including gyms, fields, cafetorium and a calendar of events for athletics, field trips, and extra-curricular activities
- Coordinate with activity workers, maintenance staff, and other staff to ensure athletic and activity events are set-up, supervised, and cleaned up
- Contract and maintain game official and activity workers lists and provide timesheets to the Payroll Manager and Athletic Secretary in a timely manner
- Maintain the athletic and activities budgets
- Coordinate sign up of student athletes by collecting and tracking current physicals, insurance cards, impact tests, codes of conduct, athletic fees, academic eligibility, and any other required paperwork
- Provide a written summary after each athletic season for the Board of Education
- Attend League, regional, and state athletic director meetings
- Administer software to ensure that athletes and coaches are league compliant
Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors degree. Candidates with an educator license and/or athletic director or coaching experience preferred. Candidates must be First Aid/CPR certified or be able to obtain a certification.
Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $50000-$75000 per year depending on education, years of experience, and professional development credits.
