Asst. Professor - Physics teaches courses in the discipline area of physics. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Physics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Physics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field.     What will your role be?

    As a teacher, you will be responsible for implementing curriculum, maintaining a positive classroom culture, using assessments to drive instructional practice, and for contributing to the educational and social development of all students by implementing culturally relevant teaching practices.  U Prep teachers use district resources in an efficient and responsible manner and participate in professional development.   

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Actively participate in professional development opportunities and implements best practices acquired that focuses on instruction and high student achievement.  
    • Provide instruction that is culturally responsive and culturally sustaining.  
    • Builds relationships with students to create a positive, structured learning environment where students feel safe, supported and empowered to grow
    • Actively engage parents in the learning process and works collaboratively with families 
    • Use data to refine lesson plans and inform instructional practices

    Qualifications


    Key Qualifications

    • Valid Michigan teaching certification with an endorsement in Physics or DI endorsement 
    • or Bachelors degree in Physics
    • Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis
