Asst. Professor - Music teaches courses in the discipline area of music. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Music provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Music typically reports to a department head. This position reports to the Director of Nursing. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) classroom instruction, clinical, and laboratory supervision for associate and bachelor's degree nursing students; 2) evaluation of students enrolled in associate and bachelor's degree nursing programs; 3) advising associate and bachelor's degree nursing students; 4) curriculum update and revision for associate degree and bachelor's nursing programs; 5) development of associate and bachelor's nursing course syllabi each semester; 6) participate in New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium activities as assigned; 7) serve on college committees as assigned; 8) participate in on-going nursing accreditation processes; 9) participate annually in an academic/professional process of continued personal and professional development; 10) actively participate in the institutional goals and objectives designed to support the mission of the college; and 11) nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified, in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) with the understanding that the candidate be successfully enrolled in a nursing Master's degree program (MSN) within a one year from date of hire and complete that degree within five years. Earned graduate degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates must have a minimum of two years clinical experience and must obtain or have a current New Mexico or multi-state nursing license in good standing. Prior successful teaching experience at the college level preferred. Candidates should be able to work within a team teaching concept. Computer proficiency required with skill in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Canvas proficiency desirable.
