Assistant Professor of Art Education
JOB PURPOSE:
The University of Wyoming Department of Visual Arts welcomes applications for an Assistant Professor of Art Education position in a rapidly growing Art Education degree program. The position is full-time, tenure-track with benefits on a two semester, nine month teaching schedule. Qualified candidates will have the ability to teach the full range and variety of Art Education classes including Methods I, Methods II, Art Education Practicum, Curriculum Design, Elementary Residency, and Secondary Residency. Their experience should include K-12 teaching experience as well as teaching in an Art Education College/University curriculum, familiarity with various Art Education pedagogies and philosophies, strong and established scholarly research, and familiarity with a variety of media used in Art Education classes. Desired skills include experience as a skilled communicator with the ability to communicate orally, in writing and digitally; experience working in a collaborative team of educators; experience working with non-traditional students, first generation students, and students with disabilities; and experience in professional organizations. The successful candidate will incorporate equitable classroom policies such as encouraging inclusion and representation of diverse viewpoints and utilizing multiple methods of content delivery including in-person, online and hybrid modalities.
The Visual Arts Building, a state-of-the-art Leed Certified construction, was completed in 2012 and provides individual offices and faculty studio spaces in the building.
