Associate Human Resources Director directs the human resources staff that implement and manage policies and programs that reflect the organization's mission and values, support company goals, achieve objectives, and positively engage the workforce. Maintains broad and current subject matter knowledge and expertise in federal and state employment laws to advise leadership with solutions for human resources issues and evolving organizational needs. Being an Associate Human Resources Director oversees processes and programs that support employees and company operations, including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and compliance. Administers an HRIS or other system to facilitate processes, provide data, and report on HR activity. Additionally, Associate Human Resources Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Associate Human Resources Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Associate Human Resources Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead strategies and tactics to attract, retain, and grow top, diverse talent at all levels.
    • Create innovative HR approaches and programs to build and grow organizational strength, enhancing team cohesion.
    • Be a strong voice on general business matters and possess a passion for the company spirit.
    • Practice as a "player-coach" with the HR team, with peers on the management team, with individuals throughout the organization and is an energetic, positive "talent developer" — helping to influence and execute HR programs and initiatives in the most efficient and effective manner.
    • Partner with leaders to source, hire, and on-board new talent and own the development programs for existing talent across all company functions.
    • Prepares workforce forecasts to project employment needs.
    • Develops staffing strategy in collaboration with the hiring manager; manages the hiring process.
    • Analyzes wage and salary data to determine competitive compensation plans.
    • Oversees payroll and benefit administration, including retirement plan administration, together with financial reporting, analysis, and compliance requirements.
    • Communicates directives advising department managers of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
    • Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
    • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
    • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
    • Studies legislation and other publications to assess industry trends.
    • Implements and sustains Human Resource initiatives at the organization.
    • Creates development plans in collaboration with an individual's manager and assists with follow-up.
    • Ensures managers are properly documenting performance, including progressive discipline, corrective guidance, and performance reviews.
    • Champions regular HR communications throughout the organization.
    • Keeps current and knowledgeable of internal and external compensation and competitive environments.
    • Conducts investigations when issues, complaints and concerns are expressed by managers and employees.
    • Counsels and trains staff on human resource policies, legal compliance issues, improvement of job skills and performance.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 10 years broad-based, progressive HR leadership roles, with minimum 5 years at the Sr. Manager/Director level.
    • Meaningful agribusiness or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
    • BS/BA in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or equivalent experience.
    • HRCI or SHRM Certification.
    • Competent in all HR functional areas (staffing, compensation, employee relations, performance management and development, coaching, payroll & benefits administration)
    • Competent in all Microsoft Office applications
    • Thorough knowledge of employment law with specific expertise in California labor law.
    • Strong general business acumen.
    • Ability to influence, develop, mentor, and empower individuals and teams to achieve objectives.
    • Ambitious and motivated self-starter with the ability to multi-task, adapt quickly, and work well with others of diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, together with solid presentation skills
    • Strong leadership, supervisory, and coaching skills
