Associate Human Resources Director directs the human resources staff that implement and manage policies and programs that reflect the organization's mission and values, support company goals, achieve objectives, and positively engage the workforce. Maintains broad and current subject matter knowledge and expertise in federal and state employment laws to advise leadership with solutions for human resources issues and evolving organizational needs. Being an Associate Human Resources Director oversees processes and programs that support employees and company operations, including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and compliance. Administers an HRIS or other system to facilitate processes, provide data, and report on HR activity. Additionally, Associate Human Resources Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Associate Human Resources Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Associate Human Resources Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. As a member of each resort’s Executive Committee, the Area Director of Human Resources is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This person is responsible for aligning colleague strategies with our operations strategies and service initiatives to meet each resort’s business objectives. The Human Resources function prides itself on excellence, service, integrity and accountability. This position reports to the hotel General Manager at each resort and will balance the needs of each, and find efficiencies wherever possible.

    The Area Director of Human Resources is responsible for short and long term planning of the HR function. This includes leading strategically and tactically in the areas of workforce planning, recruitment and staffing strategies, wage and salary administration, associate and labor relations, benefits, workforce training and development and local diversity initiatives.

    Human Resources Functions:

    • Develop HR strategies and administer HR policies and procedures
    • Strong background in employment, employee relations, benefits, wage and salary, employee training, accident prevention, and government regulations and policies as they impact HR
    • Support operational efforts through proper staffing and training of associates
    • Conduct needs analysis, develop, implement, and monitor training programs and materials
    • Instruct managers in developing alternatives/solutions to employee concerns, and in carrying out/operating within regulatory programs
    • Successfully defend against unemployment claims, Workers' Compensation claims, etc.
    • Conduct wage and salary surveys.
    • Provides employee counseling as necessary
    • Plans and coordinates employee functions, suggestion program, etc.
    • Leader of culture building throughout the resort
    • Take an active role in professional HR organizations
    • Work closely with Corporate HR function
    • Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

    The salary range for this this position is $106,000.00 and $136,000.00. This is the pay range for this position at Alila Napa Valley reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.

    Qualifications

    • 6 years or more of progressive Human Resource experience (Hyatt experience preferred)
    • With opening hotels, previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
    • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
    • Proven leadership skills
    • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume concept, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
