Associate Human Resources Director directs the human resources staff that implement and manage policies and programs that reflect the organization's mission and values, support company goals, achieve objectives, and positively engage the workforce. Maintains broad and current subject matter knowledge and expertise in federal and state employment laws to advise leadership with solutions for human resources issues and evolving organizational needs. Being an Associate Human Resources Director oversees processes and programs that support employees and company operations, including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and compliance. Administers an HRIS or other system to facilitate processes, provide data, and report on HR activity. Additionally, Associate Human Resources Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Associate Human Resources Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Associate Human Resources Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Human Resources Director will play a key role as a strategic business partner providing the full spectrum of Human Resources services and programs to meet all Yusen’s goals and objectives. This role is responsible for partnering with senior leadership in various business functions to ensure consistent practices, procedures, and HR strategies are being executed, as well as providing management and oversight of the field HR staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Implements human resources programs in conjunction with centers of excellence across a large group of employees to ensure consistent implementation of human resources policies/practices related to promotion requests, learning and development needs, employee relations matters, compensation consultation, organizational changes etc.
    • Coach, develop and support a group of human resources professionals to optimize their performance and assist them with problem solving.
    • Leverage human resources programs that contribute to the success of organizational objectives directly and through their team.
    • Coach and counsel senior leaders and provide them with direct support on high level human resources matters related to promotion requests, learning and development needs, employee relations matters, compensation consultation, organizational changes etc.
    • Leads the annual performance management process for a large group of employees including goal setting, performance appraisals, performance calibrations etc.
    • Oversee various compensations processes including bonus, merit and market competitiveness reviews in conjunction with compensation management to ensure the company maintains a competitive and fair salary/bonus program.
    • Work closely with learning and development/employee engagement and DEI initiatives to provide feedback to the departments running programs and ensure effective implementations within the assigned group of employees through their team.
    • Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local legislation through consulting and reviewing on-going human resources practices while making recommendations to management on how to mitigate risk and increase compliance.
    • Serves as main Human Resources point of contact with internal & external counsel in support of claims response or high-risk employee relations issues.

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in human resources, industrial relations or business required or equivalent experience.
    • PHR/SHRM – CP or similar HR certification required, SPHR/SHRM-SCP preferred.
    • Ten plus years of experience in a professional human resources position.
    • Five years of experience managing a human resources team, preferably with three or more years of experience managing exempt level human resources employees.
    • General knowledge of all human resources disciplines including talent acquisition, HR systems, learning & development, total rewards, benefits etc.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal including strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and deal with uncertainty while maintaining composure.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with senior managers to come up with acceptable resolutions on complex issues.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines, per to be determined schedule.
    • Ability to travel domestically 25% - 30%.
