Associate Housing Director assists in all aspects of on-campus housing for students. Assigns residence hall managers to each dormitory. Being an Associate Housing Director reviews and updates of all housing policies to ensure the safety of residents. May also help maintain an off-campus housing program. Additionally, Associate Housing Director typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Housing Director. The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston's mission is to provide decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low and moderate income citizens of the City of Charleston. The Authority's 100 employees provide the day-to-day operational support for 1,407 public housing households located throughout the City and over 1,593 Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program participants living in private accommodations.
The Authority’s staff performs admissions, maintenance, property management, administrative, and resident service duties. In addition to operating the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Authority has a Housing Finance Agency which is a component fund providing loans to create housing opportunities for low – and moderate – income citizens. The Housing Finance Agency arm of the Authority provides 1191 additional units of housing for the citizens of Charleston.
The Director of Housing Management will over see the property management aspects of the Housing Authority's operation. Property Managers at each site will report to the Director of Housing Management, as well as their support staff. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree, extensive experience in property management, preferably in the public sector, and be certified.
