    The GSA Office of General Counsel seeks an entry level general attorney to provide quality legal support for its clients in a telework friendly environment. GSA is a large procurement agency and much of the work centers around the formation and administration of contracts to support the mission of its clients. The legal practice is broad and includes: procurement, environmental law, energy contracting, information technology, construction, services, real property, leasing, employment, litigation, etc. Some of the duties may include:

    • Provides routine legal services including, but not limited to, advice on contract matters of all types (including preparation and review), fiscal law, interpretation of regulations and statutes and drafting and reviewing legislation and proposed Executive Orders.
    • Provides support to principal attorneys in connection with a variety of legal cases and questions.
    • Incumbent serves as attorney-advisor to GSA operating officials, their staffs and/or to approximately 20 independent boards, commissions and agencies.
    • Incumbent conducts legal research and reviews documents; interviews fact and expert witnesses and other persons as required; prepares briefs, motions, interrogatories and pleadings; participates in preheating conferences; consults with and advises clients; negotiates settlements.
    • Incumbent may support and assist a trial attorney for routine legal cases before appeals courts, Federal courts and administrative tribunals.
    • Provides basic advice on legal matters which may include finance, budget, personnel, compensation, civil rights , Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, Federal Advisory Committee Act, conflicts of interest, transportation audit functions, labor law and labor management relations.

    The GS-11 salary range starts at $79,839 per year.

    If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
