Associate General Counsel jobs in Gastonia, NC

About the Role:

Southwood Realty Company is seeking a licensed attorney to become a part of our team and work under the General Counsel. The attorney will assist this multi-family apartment and real estate firm in providing daily legal guidance to staff, analyzing/drafting contracts, working with lenders, etc. This position will work full-time on site at our Corporate Office in Gastonia, NC.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and draft contracts on behalf of Southwood Realty Company and its affiliates/subsidiaries
• Provide legal advice on business and legal transactions
• Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
• Report and manage insurance claims
• Provide legal advice on how to best comply with all legal standards and regulations
• Provide daily legal guidance to property staff
• Perform administrative and management functions

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and Juris Doctor Degree are required
• License to practice law in at least one state is required (NC, SC, GA, TN, or VA is preferred)
• Previous experience in the practice of law is preferred
• Experience with landlord/tenant law and issues is preferred
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
