The Program Dean for Physical Sciences is responsible for direct oversight of the College-wide educational disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and General Science. This position is managed by the Dean of Academic & Career Pathways for Science, Computing and Engineering, and works alongside the Program Dean for Life Science and Biotechnology, and the Program Dean for Computing and Engineering.

The Program Dean for Physical Sciences leads a team of department chairs, faculty, and staff, to provide integrated delivery of gateway and transfer courses in General Science, Geology, Physics, and Chemistry. A successful candidate will have direct experience and strong knowledge of best practices in implementing initiatives to address equity and opportunity gaps in the physical sciences. They will be responsible, with department chairs and faculty, for developing, implementing, and evaluating equitable student success in prerequisite and transfer physical sciences courses aligned with retention and success metrics.

Portland, Oregon (PDX) is located on the confluence of two major rivers (the Willamette and Columbia), and an hour drive from mountains and beaches. This are is known for its outdoor activities. The city has a history of being an arts and cultural hub, with internationally renowned music, literary, performative arts, and culinary scenes. PDX is a cool place.

$99575 to $144379 Annual Salary

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. After one year of management or confidential service, PCC also provides a 2% contribution to a 403(b) account for eligible management and confidential personnel. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.
