Associate Dean of Law jobs in Maryland
Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Associate Dean of Law typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Compensation:$90,000 - $110,000
Responsibilities:- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
- Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel regarding issues relating to case
- Meet court deadlines and internal deadlines
- Maintain excellent communication with clients
- Stay abreast of developments in the law
- Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland
- At least 3 years of litigation experience preferably in family law
- Ability to handle a case file from intake to trial.
