Associate Dean of Humanities assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of humanities. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Humanities provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Humanities typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Humanities typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Adjunct Instructor - Humanities

  • Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Humanities Instructor in the Arts & Sciences Department. This position is located at Atlanta Tech’s main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in Humanities courses.

    Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques. 

    Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.  

    Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.  

    Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the Humanities field.  

    Follows approved course syllabus.  

    Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.  

    Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student. Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.  

    Attends meetings as required and appropriate.  

    Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.  

    Assists with student recruitment and job placement.  

    Serves on committees.  

    Maintains qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.  

    Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.  

    Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in English, Art, History, Philosophy or related field, or at least 18 graduate hours in the aforementioned disciplines from a regionally accredited institution.  

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

    Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.

    One year teaching experience.

    Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels required for humanities and general education areas.

    Experience as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or post-secondary setting.  

    Experience with BANNER student information system, Blackboard learning management system and Microsoft Office.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree in English, Art, History, Philosophy or related field, or at least 18 graduate hours in the aforementioned disciplines from a regionally accredited institution.  

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

    Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
