Associate Dean of Humanities assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of humanities. Being an Associate Dean of Humanities provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Humanities typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Humanities typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • Position Summary Assists the Dean with the administration, operation, promotion and evaluation of programs, personnel, and budgetary matters. The Associate Dean supports the strategic plan and provides leadership to ensure the development and implementation of academic programs, policies and procedures related to those programs and serves as an ambassador for the College both internally and externally. Duties and responsibilities are completed under the supervision of and in conjunction with the Dean of the college. This work is performed in an ethical, respectful and collegial manner consistent with the college and university mission vision and values which include inclusive excellence. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Leadership Serves as member of Dean’s Leadership Team. Prepare reports, information and materials requested by the Dean. Serves as the liaison to the college with marketing to ensure accuracy of print materials and accuracy of website. Represent the Dean as assigned and perform other duties and responsibilities related to the above. Assists in recruiting efforts and attends admission events related to the college as the College’s representative. Assists in development of articulation agreements and other admission related efforts. Serves as liaison to programs and university departments regarding Dual Degree policies, procedures, and criteria. Serves as liaison to departments/faculty/staff related to Global Health Programs. Partners with Department Chairs and faculty to ensure full achievement of college initiatives by supporting strategic goal setting. Reviews and monitors trends in enrollment and other Key Performance indicators for college programs. Works collaboratively with University units and departments to create innovative options to increase enrollment and diversify revenues.   Program Accreditation / College Assessment Review and provide feedback on accredited academic programs self-study and progress reports Serve as CHP representative on University Committees for NECHE, Disclosure and Licensure Serve as liaison to CHP Director of Assessment and CHP Assessment Committee Oversees Academic Standing process and procedures and prepares reports and notifications as needed. Supervises compliance by chairs and program directors with accreditation based Comprehensive Evaluation Plans by semester and prepares annual results for presentation to the Dean. Possess knowledge and experience with current state, national and professional accreditation and certification policies, procedures, and processes in initial and continued accreditation procedures across CHP programs including AT, CMD/SLP, EX/EXSS, MPH, OT, PA, PT, RAD. Prepare reports, information and materials requested by the Dean.   CHP Committees Serve as at-large member of CHP Assessment Committee, CHP Simulation Task Force, CHP Interprofessional Education Committee. Serve as liaison between Dean’s office CHP Academic Affairs Committee (Faculty Governance committee).   New Program/Course Development Review all new program and new course proposals, make recommendations Assure new program proposal and development process adheres to procedures Serve as liaison between program developer, Dean, and CHP Academic Affairs and Coordinating Council Committees Approve program and course changes in Curriculum Management system. Other duties as assigned   Global Health Coordinate Global Health education programs in conjunction with coordinators for short-term global immersion programs and semester length programs in Dingle. Collaborate with coordinators for initiation of new programs, sustainability of existing programs Oversee orientation of global program leaders and collaborate with leaders for student orientations and preparation. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes Doctoral degree required with PhD or EdD preferred; Clinical doctorate may be considered. 5-10 years of teaching required. Demonstrated success with working in a collegiate environment with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Previous Associate Dean or Chair experience preferred. Has experience managing academic programs (undergraduate and graduate). Supervisory experience is required. Must be highly motivated with a high degree of integrity, ethics and dedication while being able to think critically, analyze data, and process detailed information quickly and efficiently. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, parents and students while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Demonstrates ability to translate university initiatives to faculty and staff in a positive and collegial manner. Adheres to inclusive excellence. Demonstrates high level of problem solving and creative solution generation. Unusual Working Conditions Working hours may include evenings and weekends as needed.
