Associate Dean of Fine Arts assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of fine arts. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Fine Arts provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Fine Arts typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The responsibility of the Fine Arts Teacher is to strengthen a student's academic, behavioral, emotional, and social skills through interaction with music, whether through signing, playing instruments, movement, analysis, or listening. This is an exempt, 12 month position that reports directly to the Director or Assistant Director of Education.

Essential Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in music education from an accredited college or university and CT Certification in Music Education required. Minimum two years teaching experience in a regular or special education classroom setting is preferred. Training in TCI, Risking Connections, CPR, mandated reporting and professional boundaries is required and may be taken post-hire. Must have a positive attitude, demonstrated good judgement and ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and staff ability to work with students and other employees from diverse ethnic, economic, educational and religious backgrounds is requisite, as is commitment to the CT Code of Responsibility for Teachers**. Must be able to obtain and maintain certification and training as required by the agency's Training Academy in PMT, ATS, CPR/ First Aid and Bloodbourne Pathogens to include maintenance/recertification as required per agency procedure. Certification as agency-endorsed driver (may be post-hire) through either A- or V-endorsement via DMV, as required by the agency. Physical Elements of the position include potentially lifting and carrying approximately 40¬80 pounds (e.g. during escort); frequent bending, kneeling and reaching; maintaining within arm’s length of student/client(s) for long periods of time as appropriate; ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time. Mental Performance Elements of the position include coordinating schedules, ability to appropriately problem-solve crisis situations, capable of remaining alert and using all senses while maintaining constant surveillance, and completing written documentation within or exceeding agency guidelines and procedural standards.
