Associate Dean of Engineering assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of engineering. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Engineering provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Engineering typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Engineering typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Milwaukee School of Engineering invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for Fall 2024 teaching in the Mechanical Engineering Program. The full-time faculty position is open to applicants in Mechanical Engineering with expertise in Solid Mechanics or Computational Mechanics.
The position requires an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field), relevant experience, and a strong interest in effective undergraduate teaching, integrating theory, applications, and laboratory practice. Candidates are expected to have an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program. In addition to teaching duties, successful candidates will be expected to become involved with academic advising, course/curriculum development, supervision of student projects, and continued professional growth through a combination of consulting, scholarship, and research. Excellent communication skills are required.
