Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Education typically reports to a Dean. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Description:

    Through this newly created position, the Dean of Education at Rodale Institute will oversee the creation, development and execution of all educational initiatives, including farmer training, a forthcoming agriculture professional services tract, consumer education, field days, workshops, webinars and all educational initiatives at our main campus and regional campuses. This candidate will have a strong knowledge of the organic certification and inspection market, a background in creating and executing on-line and in-person educational products, content creation acumen, and experience in creating educational curriculum, as well as have excellent written and oral communication skills. The Dean of Education will work very closely with the Director of Marketing and Director of Education and will also work alongside of the Chief Scientist to raise Rodale Institute’s profile and prestige among other universities and learning institutions.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • The Dean is tasked with working with in-house and industry partners such as ROA and PCO to identify educational gaps pertaining to the expansion of the regenerative organic market and create or co-create programming and educational content that builds a stronger network of ag professionals, farmers and consumers.
    • The Dean is entrusted with identifying growth areas for Rodale Institute’s educational offerings, including target audiences, new student acquisition, engagement, and other

    metrics for success.

    • The Dean will build on our existing online education platform by identifying market opportunities for expansion, including a new professional services tract, online courses, and webinars to reach a wider audience.
    • The Dean will work closely with the Development office and the Director of Education to identify new funding sources and successfully secure funding and grants to expand our funding base.
    • Amplify the impact of Rodale’s educational content by collaborating with the Director of Marketing on web content, videos, social media, and more. Specifically, by growing Rodale Institute’s presence and audience on YouTube and other social media platforms. By leveraging these opportunities, Rodale will see an increase in participation in all its educational courses.
    • Develop surveys and evaluation tools to allow for follow-up with course participants for feedback as well as canvas the market on new opportunities for expansion.
    • Oversee department budget and manage a diverse team.
    • Help execute education-related grant deliverables.

    Qualifications:

    •  At least 8 years’ experience in creating agricultural related educational content for diverse audiences
    • Strong understanding of distance learning technology and initiatives.
    • At least 3 years’ experience leading diverse teams
    • Incredibly organized, with the ability to work with diverse programs and staff to develop a comprehensive strategy and execution
    • Excellent communications skills (both oral and written) with the ability to represent Rodale Institute in speaking engagements, media interviews and more.
    • Proven track record in creating content and course curriculums, including the marketing of those courses.
    • Strong and visionary leadership skills
    • Experience with grant writing preferred
    • Knowledge and passion for regenerative organic agriculture.

    Education:

    Master’s Degree in Education, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience.
