The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the School of Education, Human Ecology, and Sports Studies who provides overall leadership for several subunits:
The School of Education, Human Ecology, and Sports Studies (SEHESS) comprises several subunits, including the Departments of Elementary Education and Reading, Secondary Education and Educational Technology, Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education, Human Ecology (encompassing Human Development and Family Studies, Fashion and Textiles, Food Service and Restaurant Administration, Dietetics, and Human Ecology), Health and Fitness, and the Office of Education Advisement and Field Experiences. . In addition to the nine undergraduate majors, the School administers graduate programs in Nutrition and Dietetics, Educational Technology, Literacy, School Counseling, and Special Education. Programs within the School are accredited by ACEND and AAQEP.
The Associate Dean will provide assessment support for all programs in the School of SEHESS, will lead accreditation and external reporting, and is responsible for ensuring that the School maintains all accreditations. The Associate Dean will demonstrate an understanding of the complex challenges in higher education and will collaborate with faculty to create innovative solutions and programs. He/she/they is also expected to work collaboratively with University Planning and other academic units across campus to foster a culture of assessment and experiential learning within the campus community and wider community. Academic Quality: The Associate Dean will assume a leadership role in maintaining high academic standards for the School of Education Human Ecology and Sports Studies (SEHESS). Responsibilities include support for teaching, course scheduling, curricular revisions and development, budget review, faculty development, field experiences and internships, assessment of student learning, program review, and other activities that ensure all programs in the School are on a path leading to excellence.
Reporting to the Dean of the School, the Associate Dean will:
Assessment and Accreditation: The Associate Dean will assume a leadership role in assessment, accreditation, and program review within the SEHESS. Responsibilities will include maintenance and implementation of the assessment and data collection systems in education (AAQEP accredited) and nutrition and dietetics (ACEND accredited) as well as all annual reporting and Title II reporting.

Student Experience: The Associate Dean will provide leadership in activities that enhance the student experience, such as internships, field experiences, advising, departmental mentoring and academic support programs and other experiential learning activities.
