College of Education
The College of Education at CSULB seeks an Associate Dean to work with the college leaders, staff, faculty and students to provide transparent and equity-minded leadership. The College serves approximately 3,000 students, many of whom are the first in their families to pursue college degrees. Our academic programs range from undergraduate, to master’s and doctoral degrees, and education credentials that prepare candidates for careers in diverse, urban educational settings. In total, the college offers 25 academic degrees and credentials, making it one of the largest colleges of education within the CSU system. With a low student to faculty ratio of 1:21, and strong, individualized advising from faculty and staff, students receive the support and attention needed to successfully complete their degree on time. The College of Education is embarking on its new strategic plan to lead in the practice of urban education, with aspirations to consider the impact of social landscapes on education, design curricula that expands the capacity of urban education, advance dimensions of wellness, develop and sustain deep partnerships, enrich clinical practice, and influence policy reform and engage in advocacy at multiple levels. All are guided by making visible equity, diversity and inclusion in urban education to confront white supremacy, while centering students. We look forward to finding a colleague who will collaborate in developing partnerships and accountability structures to address racist and unjust policies, practices, and programs and ensure students, faculty, and students are empowered for success.
