Chief Financial Officer (VP) reports to the President & Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the development and analysis of financial information while advising, supervising and directing the day to day activities of the accounting and inventory control functions.
This is a senior management, salaried, exempt position.
Salary: $125,000 - $140,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of performance against budget and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effective of the agency.
- Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures, initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Communicates with employees, sales representatives, auditors, outside agencies, insurance agents and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information or resolve problems.
- Oversees the agency’s system of accounts, books and records on all organizational transactions and assets.
- Establish major economic objective and policies for the agency. Prepare reports that outline the agency’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses and profit based on past, present and future operations.
- Actively participate in the review and assessment of all finance operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare the annual budget, financial projections for year-end forecasting and audit coordination.
- Analyses for monthly financial reports and make presentations to the Board of Directors, including annual Budget for board approval.
- Coordinate agency budget process from forecasts through compilation to implementation and monitoring. Ensures cash flow reports are generated and reviewed with the President & CEO.
- Develops, implements, and monitors proper inventory control processes.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating Balance Sheet values, including capitalization and depreciation functions.
- Responsible for all contracts and automation of agency contracts to include performance-based contract information. Review open RFR solicitation monthly.
- Project management to oversee projects that help determine financial system upgrades and conversions focusing on agency requirement needs.
- Secure and maintain agency insurance coverage including Directors and Officers coverage, professional liability and other insurance coverage. Maintain recordkeeping of all insurance claims.
- Interface with other members on the senior management team on strategic, programmatic and fundraising priorities.
- Professional development of Finance Department personnel.
- Attends and participates in monthly meetings of the Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in accounting /finance/business
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in financial and accounting management with 10 years in a senior level financial management role.
- Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems, including Sage and Paylocity or comparable systems.
- Exemplary written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate staff to achieve desired results
- A professional management and work style noted for leadership and follow-through.
- Exceptional ability to organize people and resources to get things done.
