    Chief Information Officer (CIO)

    As the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the value-based healthcare industry, you will provide visionary strategic leadership in leveraging technology to optimize clinical and functional operations, improve patient outcomes, drive technology innovation and create superior experiences for employees and patients. You will oversee the management of system integration of networks and systems, and its overall technology infrastructure. Collaborating closely with leadership, you will drive technology strategies that align with business goals, ensuring seamless integration and enhancement of technological capabilities across the organization.

    Responsibilities

    The core responsibilties of the CIO are:

  • Technology Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans that identify technology applications supporting business goals within the value-based care context, including exploring innovative options to enhance clinical practices and operational efficiency.
  • Technology Trends and Improvement: Monitor and evaluate technology trends, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary to ensure the organization remains competitive with technological advancements.
  • Effective Communication: Establish clear lines of communication with executive leadership, teams, and clinical stakeholders to articulate the technology strategy, objectives, and alignment with the overall vision of the organization.
  • Unified Technology Portfolio: Create and maintain a cohesive portfolio of technology capabilities that align with various functions within the value-based healthcare landscape, fostering collaboration and consistent technology adoption.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to create IT related budgets and incorporate effective technology planning and resource allocation.
  • People Management: Leads and engages people to maximize organizational performance; people management is having the ability to continuously improve team performance and enable individuals to deliver value added solutions to the business
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Ensure that technology initiatives are aligned with clinical and business goals, collaborating closely with clinical leadership to optimize patient care.
  • Oversees cybersecurity, business continuity/disaster recovery plans (BCP/DR), and single sign-on (SSO) programs to ensure all applications and systems adhere to compliance standards and follow industry security standards, including security awareness campaigns and training to better protect VNAHG from SPAM, Phishing, and other cyber-attacks
  • Policies & Procedures: Oversees the creation, implementation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and work instructions for key IT process and systems administration, incorporating both industry best practices and compliance requirements
  • Employee Education: Manages employee education on the use of technology throughout the organization and advises on productivity approaches.
  • Vendor/Contract Management: Negotiates hardware and software contracts and serves as principal vendor liaison for all system negotiations, implementations, maintenance, and contract renewals
  • Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for the CIO position will have the following qualifications:

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science/Technology or a related discipline, with a proven track record of excellence, Masters of Technology/Information Science and/or MBA preferred
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with a minimum of 5 years in management positions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technology concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong business acumen, including an understanding of budgets, business planning, and strategic alignment.
  • Extensive knowledge of information systems technology, hardware, and software, with a commitment to staying current with emerging trends and advancements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the vision and values of VNAHG committed to advancing healthcare through technology and innovation.

    • Manage information technology 24x7
    • Multiple office environment spanning multiple sites
    • Network to support all sites
    • System interfaces and integration
    • Internal cloud infrastructure with products like VMware and NetApp
    • Microsoft SQL server support
    • Microsoft office and Microsoft Exchange
    • Microsoft terminal server environment
    • Home Care Home Base system for homecare
    • NextGen primary care system
    • Great Plains accounting system
    • ADP payroll and HR system
    • Microsoft Office Suite

     

    Working Conditions/Physical Demand:

    Ability to work at computer for 8 hour shift; must be able to work on a set time schedule to meet support hours;  capable of lifting and moving computer equipment; required to drive to branch offices.
