    Position Summary: The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office seeks attorneys and staff dedicated to public service, public safety, and fairness and justice for all who come into contact with the criminal justice system. The Chief Financial Officer position is responsible for overseeing the agency’s accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, expense control, grants, and employee benefits. This position prepares and monitors the agency’s budget and communicates and advises on all financial matters.

    • Prepare, analyze, and forecast the budget and financial trends, including short-term and long-term strategic financial objectives.
    • Direct and manage all financial functions, including procurement, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and grant management in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
    • Responsible for preparing financial information for monthly/quarterly grant financial reports for multiple Federal, State, and Local Grant Programs.
    • Attend all budget-related committee hearings and City-County Council meetings.
    • Prepare and submit all fiscal ordinance proposals to the City-County Council.
    • Liaison with the City-County Purchasing Department.
    • Liaison with the Office of Finance & Management.
    • Respond to and resolve most questions and issues, referring only the most complex to the next level.
    • Attend meetings, professional seminars, conferences, and/or computer application training courses as needed to incorporate requisite developments/enhancements into work unit operations.
    • Responsible for reviewing the accuracy and timely submission of payroll for the Agency on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with City of Indianapolis/Marion County payroll policies and deadlines.
    • Assist employees with questions regarding payroll, employee benefits, employment verification, and other matters.
    • Ensure the office complies with Human Resource training requirements.
    • Maintain all confidential employee records and files for the office.
    • Liaison between the 251 E. Ohio St. Building Management Team and the Criminal Division.
    • The list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive. It may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that the Prosecutor, Chief of Staff, and Chief Counsel may deem necessary.

    Job Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Required:
    • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, public finance, business administration, or a related field and 3-5 years of work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Experience in government finance, grants management, and government or private funding is desirable.
    • Possess good problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
    • Organization skills and being highly productive in a team management environment are required.
    • Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods, including telephone, office systems, and record keeping.
    • Must be able to type, update, and create reports and spreadsheets.
    • Demonstrate creative ability when presented with unformatted projects and/or ideas.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively both in oral and written formats.
    • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision; and ability to handle and resolve recurring problems while maintaining the confidentiality of information.
