Assoc. Professor - Sociology teaches courses in the discipline area of sociology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Sociology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Sociology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.   • The Sociology program at Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for a part-time instructor to teach a Sociology 110 – Intro to Marriage and Family at the Lompoc Federal Prison on Monday and Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:50 pm on Monday and Wednesday for the spring 2024 semester.  Future classes may be taught at the Santa Maria campus or the Lompoc Valley Center, and could be a day or evening classes.  

    Please note that this is not a remote position.

     · Assignments may include day, evening, or weekend classes.  Master’s in sociology
    OR
    Bachelor’s in sociology
    AND
    Master’s in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social
    work or psychology
    OR the equivalent

    Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience  

    Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience 

    Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
