    Job Description

    The UM-St. Louis School of Social Work invites candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor position beginning the 2024-2025 academic year. At the School of Social Work, we engage students and faculty in professional education, research, and service to advance knowledge and competence to promote human and societal well-being. Within a collaborative learning environment, students are prepared as self-aware, culturally informed and critically-thinking leaders who are committed to social and economic justice and professional values and ethics.     Responsibilities
    As faculty, you must have the ability to assimilate information, think critically, conduct research in areas relevant to social work, publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, and submit grant proposals in an attempt to secure external funding. You will also teach courses for the BSW and MSW programs in such a way that students are engaged, and advise graduate-level social work students.

    Qualifications

    Earned a PhD in social work or a related field by August 2024. ABD candidates will be considered as long as they complete their PhD by August 2024. An MSW plus two years of post-Master's experience is preferred.
    A strong record of or potential for maintaining a research agenda including scholarly publications and pursuing external funding.

    Experience or potential to effectively teach students from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and create an inclusive learning environment.

    Ability to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive culture and embody social work's core values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.
