Assoc. Professor - Social Work teaches courses in the discipline area of social work. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Social Work provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Social Work typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or psychology from an accredited school.
Masters Social Work preferred from an accredited school.
Licensed Masters Social Work preferred from an accredited school.
Experience
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years’ experiences as a Social Worker in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility, preferred.

Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Facility’s Social Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, our established policies and procedures. The Social Service Department will ensure that the residents overall quality of ;life is maintained while at the facility. The social worker will develop relationships with the residents and their families to ensure that their needs are provided in a timely and dignified manner.

Working Conditions
Works in office areas as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., units, resident’s rooms, etc.)
Sits stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.

Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, under all conditions/circumstances.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.
Communicates with all of the interdisciplinary team including medical staff.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends, holidays when necessary.
Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc throughout the workday.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including AIDS and Hepatitis B Viruses.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or without the aid of mechanical devices.)
Must be able to cope with the mental stress and emotional stress of the position.
Must be able to hear and see or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function.
Must be in generally good health.
Must be able to lift, pull, push and move a minimum of fifty pounds.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS –
Upon admission, the social work department will ensure appropriate Screen and PASSR documents are placed in the resident medical record.
Care Plan and Assessment Functions
Documents preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the social service needs of each resident.
