Assoc. Professor - Social Work teaches courses in the discipline area of social work. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Social Work provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Social Work typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Position Summary:
Generates and accepts Social Work referrals, applies casework process, performs department duties, documents activities and performs social work functions of counseling, referral/resource acquisition/and case consultation and coordination. Follows organizational, regulatory agency, and accrediting body policies, procedures, standards and requirements when assisting in the delivery of Social Work services. Works within the scope of practice defined in the Administrative Rules of the Board of Social Work.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Assists with psychosocial data collection on individuals admitted to mental health unit.
2. Serves as a patient advocate for individuals requiring mental health services and psychosocial support services.
3. Assumes responsibility for assigned caseload/units/programs and accompanying service delivery.
4. Participates in coordinated and cooperative manner with allied health team and physician to maximize patient functioning and enhance departmental performance.
5. Participates appropriately in treatment team conferences, patient meetings, interviews, and group sessions required.
Required:
· Possess a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from accredited higher educational institution.
· Michigan Licensure as Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW).
Preferred:
· Acute hospital, Behavioral Health, Case Management or Emergency Room experience
· Possess at least one year of work related experience
· Substance Abuse and Treatment Certification
· Advanced Care Planning Certification/Training
