    Summary

    As part of an intensive training program in health service psychology, in addition to all educational requirements (e.g., didactics, supervision), psychology interns will provide comprehensive behavioral health care, to include: diagnostic intake assessments, triage appropriate next steps in care for all behavioral health service line patients, and provide individual psychotherapy, family, and/or group psychotherapy services as needed. Consultation and outreach services are to be expected, as well.

    Psychology Interns will be placed into one of two tracks providing either outpatient or integrated (primary care behavioral health) services throughout the regional Confluence Health system.

    Essential Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive, diagnostic Intake Assessments for all behavioral health service line patients according to departmental procedures, funding source requirements, and evidence-based approaches.
  • Perform appropriate triage to determine appropriate next steps in care for each individual patient following the intake assessment and coordinate connecting the patient to services.
  • Develop Individualized Treatment Plans for each patient according to policies of the department and funding source requirements.
  • Provide ongoing individual, family, or group counseling for the patient and/or natural supports according to departmental procedures, funding source requirements, and using evidence-based/strength-based approaches.
  • Document clinical activity within the electronic medical record according to policies of the department and in compliance with required timelines.
  • Provide case management services as identified on the Individualized Treatment Plan, including linking patients and supports to community resources and other services and coordinating Behavioral Health treatment services and intervention strategies with internal and/or external supports, as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation to and collaboration with primary care and/or specialty medical care providers regarding patients’ diagnosis, treatment plan, and status changes, as appropriate.
  • Provide administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological assessments (e.g., cognitive and/or personality assessments).
  • Provide outreach services to internal partners and/or external (community) partners regarding behavioral health issues including providing educational training and/or onsite intervention services.
  • Comply with all departmental, agency, and funding source requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in all required agency and departmental meeting as indicated by supervisor.
  • Participate in regular individual and group clinical supervision and didactics training when scheduled and as required as part of the Psychology Internships training program.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills that promote a positive functioning department (e.g., professionalism, positive team dynamics, positive attitude).
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Participate in a unit-based QA program.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.

    Position Requirements

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Be enrolled in an APA or CPA-accredited doctoral degree program in professional psychology (e.g., Clinical or Counseling).
    • All coursework required for the doctoral degree must be completed prior to the start of the internship year, as well as any qualifying, comprehensive, or preliminary doctoral examinations.
    • Dissertation or doctoral research project proposal approved prior to the start of the internship program. We prefer candidates whose doctoral dissertations will be completed, or at least well under way, before the internship.
    • Have earned a master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or another related field before the start of the internship and must be eligible for master’s level licensure in Washington State at the Associate-level or above (i.e., LMHCA, LMFTA, LCSWA).
    • Have formal approval from the intern’s academic program to participate in the APPIC match and internship program.
    • Have completed a minimum of 450 hours of clinical practicum experience (combined intervention and assessment practice, not counting supervision hours).
    • Driver’s License with good driving record and access to a vehicle that is legally insured to be used for off-site clinical services, consultation, or case management.

    Desired:

    • Experience using electronic health records.
    • Type at least 35 wpm.
