Assoc. Professor - Psychology teaches courses in the discipline area of psychology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Psychology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Psychology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Psychology Teacher Position
The Loomis Chaffee School announces a search for a Psychology teacher to begin teaching in August of 2024. The preferred candidate has a degree in Psychology, and the ability to teach courses in an additional academic discipline. Experience teaching in the field is preferred but not essential. Both full and part-time candidates will be considered.
In addition to teaching Psychology, other responsibilities could include dormitory residence or association and participation in the after-school program at the school in a manner commensurate with the candidate’s skills. Loomis Chaffee is a boarding school, and while housing is a possibility, consideration will be given both to candidates who seek to live on campus and to candidates who would prefer to live in their own residence locally.
Candidates should attach a cover letter, a resume, any letters of recommendation available, and a list of references to their application. The Loomis Chaffee School is an independent, coeducational boarding/day school of 700 students and 170 faculty members, located in the historic town of Windsor, Connecticut. Chartered in 1874, the school provides an academically challenging curriculum within a supportive community that affirms individual beliefs and differences. Need-based financial aid is currently awarded to 33 percent of the student body.
