Assoc. Professor - Psychology teaches courses in the discipline area of psychology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Psychology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Psychology typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Beloit College invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of Psychology to begin in August 2024. A Ph.D. in psychology is required; candidates who are ABD and expect to complete their Ph.D. by August 2024 will also be considered. Successful candidates must have teaching interests and research specialties in clinical psychology, as well as the ability to teach at least one other content area e.g. personality psychology, positive psychology, counseling psychology, drugs and behavior, biopsychology, health psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, or behavioral economics/consumer marketing.
The successful candidate must exhibit exceptional enthusiasm for, and commitment to, undergraduate teaching and in expanding efforts of equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, and must demonstrate pedagogies or research that aligns with or will engage our increasingly diverse student body and interdisciplinary curriculum. We seek a colleague who will foster student research and involve students in their professional scholarship, so experience mentoring undergraduates is a plus. The standard teaching load is six courses per year.
