Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Philosophy typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Philosophy-Tenure Track to join our team.

     

    Job Summary:

     

    The Philosophy Department at Earlham College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position:

    Area of Specialization:  History of Philosophy with special emphasis on Continental Philosophy. 

    Area of Competence: Ancient Greek Philosophy or Philosophy of Law or Feminist Philosophy or Aesthetics. 

     

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    Usual teaching load is 18-24 credits per academic year.  Advising and committee service required after the first year.  Candidates with appropriate interests may have opportunities to teach in interdisciplinary programs such as African and African-American Studies, Peace and Global Studies, and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies.  For more information on off-campus programs and interdisciplinary programs see our web page at www.earlham.edu/

    • Degree Type: Ph.D. prior to appointment is preferred, but ABD will be considered.
