Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Mathematics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Mathematics typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     The University of Mary invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August 2024.  Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits a semester (three 4 credit courses), and being actively involved in service to the program, the University, and the community.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank.

    The successful candidate will display enthusiasm for teaching and learning and be able to teach many general mathematics courses, including courses such as Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Statistics, and Math for Elementary Teachers.  A background in Mathematics Education is preferred, as is experience teaching high school mathematics.  While an advanced degree in Mathematics Education is ideal, those with an advanced degree in Mathematics or Statistics or with sufficient relevant experience will be considered.  The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to help students of all levels learn and appreciate mathematics, be involved in program development, and maintain an active record of related scholarship.
