Assoc. Professor - History jobs in Cape Coral, FL

The STEM Lab inspired by the IMAG History and Science Center seeks to hire part-time/temporary STEM Educators. We are seeking STEM educators to deliver engaging hands-on programming at our main and satellite locations, and at outreach events, perform live shows, teach camps, assist with birthday parties, work at special events, and more! There will be many opportunities for advancement from this entry-level museum professional position.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (or working towards) in a STEM field preferred, experience teaching in informal and formal learning environments, and excellent public speaking skills preferred.

Duties:

– Deliver informal science education programs, shows, and demonstrations within the IMAG, at special events, and at outreach events in the community

– Assist in the development of informal science education programs and exhibits – Prepare materials for programs, demonstrations, and shows.

- Assist with Gift Shop operations.

Additional duties will include caring for animals, caring for aquatic tanks and animals, assisting with birthday parties, assisting with special events, organizing inventory, and cleaning the center. It may also include some administrative duties..

Positions are available from 10 to 35 hours per week. Must be available to work weekend and holiday shifts.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (or working towards), preferably in science or education, or comparable experience. Experience with animals and aquatics is a plus. Teaching experience in formal or informal learning settings is also sought. Improv theater or experience performing in front of groups of all sizes is also a plus. Candidates must be motivated and value a team-oriented and creative environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a positive and friendly approach to the public is a must.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
