Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.   • Pennichuck Corporation is the largest private water utility in the state of New Hampshire. We service municipalities and community water systems in southern and central New Hampshire. Pennichuck Water now has an exciting opportunity available for a Director of our Engineering & Environmental Services Department.

    This position reports directly to our CEO and plays a key role in both our tactical and strategic efforts within the Company. Through department managers, this position will oversee the Company’s efforts in contract management, design of new mains and services, watershed protection, data collection and interpretation, water system hydraulics, facility expansion and asset management.

    Key duties include:

    • Technical Management
      • Provide technical direction to the EESD and Utility Operations Departments on various activities including contract management, design of new mains and services, watershed protection, data collection & interpretation, water system hydraulics, facility expansion, and Asset Management.
    • Departmental Operations Management
      • Work collaboratively with other Company departments to achieve corporate goals and objectives.
    • Management of EESD staff
      • Oversee all management functions within the department either directly or through department management staff. This includes but not limited to budgeting, hiring, training, performance management, coaching, and discipline.
    • Rate & Regulatory Technical Support
      • Provide technical and policy representation for the company at public meetings, legal proceedings, legislative and regulatory hearings
    • Strategic Leadership & Planning
      • In coordination with other members of Senior Management, support definition of vision, identify paths and challenges and work with all levels of employees to achieve the goals of the company.

    Qualified candidates should possess:

    • Bachelor’s and/or Masters Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related field.
    • Ten to fifteen years progressive experience in a water related field with at least five (5) at the department management level with experience in the areas of contract management, utility planning, environmental monitoring and the design and construction of water utility assets.
    • Registered Professional Engineer or another applicable license in NH and a valid drivers license.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead both tactically and strategically to achieve both departmental and company goals.
    • Strong communications skills, both verbally and written
    • Proven critical thinking ability with the ability to understand when and why to consider change
    • Proven ability to build and maintain a cohesive team dynamic, both within the department and with other departments.
    • Ability to coach and develop employees at all levels.
