Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Dentistry typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks.     Job Description

    Summary:

The role of the Infection Control Practitioner is pivotal in managing and deploying strategies to prevent and control infections within the healthcare environment. This individual will apply a deep understanding of standard protocols and guidelines related to healthcare-associated infection (HAI) management, influenced by regulatory bodies such as the CDC and JCAHO.

    Essential Functions:

    • Implement and enhance protocols for tracking and managing HAIs across various patient demographics and healthcare personnel.
    • Analyze microbiological data to assess if infections are associated with healthcare services.
    • Engage with clinical staff regularly to monitor and address HAIs.
    • Develop, implement, and refine infection control measures.
    • Provide educational sessions related to infection prevention across the organization.
    • Investigate outbreak patterns and infection clusters, particularly those exceeding normal expectations.
    • Maintain and update infection control policies continuously.
    • Report on infection prevention activities to relevant organizational committees and leadership groups.
    • Utilize statistics related to risk and trends in HAIs effectively.
    • Communicate critical information regarding infection control through established hospital committees.
