Assistant Professor of Chemistry-Lyon College, a dynamic institution that is growing its
undergraduate enrollment as it also expands to create the first dental and veterinary doctoral.
programs in the state of Arkansas, seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant.
Professor of Chemistry with a research background in material science, beginning in Fall 2024.
The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in chemistry or a related field, as well as
evidence of a scholarly agenda appropriate to Lyon College that could involve undergraduates.
Responsibilities include teaching the General Chemistry sequence and advanced courses such as
Quantitative Analysis, Special Topics in Material Science, and Advanced Inorganic Chemistry. The
successful candidate is also expected to actively mentor and conduct research relevant to
material science with undergraduate students. College teaching experience is preferred, and a
commitment to liberal arts education is required. The teaching load is seven courses per year.
Other responsibilities include serving on college committees, advising students majoring in
chemistry, participating in recruiting, curricular development, and assessment.
