    Job Summary:

    Oklahoma State University School of Architecture is accepting applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Architecture. The successful candidates are expected to instruct design studio courses as well as lecture and seminar courses in topics closely related to architecture. Each position is primarily focused on teaching; however, all faculty are expected to develop a creative and scholarly agenda that contributes to the mission and goals of the school, college, and university.

    Candidates are required to have a terminal degree in architecture according to one of the following options:
    NAAB-accredited BArch post-professional degree (MArch or MS) professional license
    NAAB-accredited MArch professional license
    PhD in Architecture

    Candidates with professional experience are highly encouraged to apply and must be versatile and capable of teaching at the foundation and advanced level design studios. Candidates are also expected to have a clear scholarship/research agenda and offer courses that contribute to the School of Architecture academic curriculum.

    The programs in the School of Architecture are NAAB and ABET accredited and depend on a dedicated faculty of 18 professors working as a close-knit team and serving a student body of 350. For 114 years, the program has been professionally educating architects and architectural engineers, combining a strong design and problem-solving curriculum with an emphasis on technology and building systems integration. The school’s state-of-the-art facilities support faculty and students in their educational endeavors and scholarly pursuits. The School of Architecture fosters a collegial atmosphere among the faculty, most notably through team-taught design studios. Collaborative and multi-disciplinary research and scholarship are valued and embraced through the school’s integration of accredited undergraduate programs in architecture and architectural engineering as well as its role in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology.     The successful candidate will teach a design studio every semester and offer courses in a design-related architectural specialty. The candidate is expected to develop a creative and scholarly agenda related to their area of focus.

    The responsibilities of the job include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; supervising the efforts of graduate or undergraduate student assistants and instructors; serving under applicable regulations on graduate student committees; advising students on curricular and career choices; assisting student organizations; serving on departmental, college and university committees; assuming major responsibilities for those areas assigned by the department head; and initiating and maintaining research and/or extension projects, including the acquisition if external funding. An Assistant Professor of Architecture is expected to begin developing scholarly and professional maturity as evidenced, variously, by publication of research results, preferably in refereed journals; presentation of technical materials at regional and national conferences; development of substantial course and curriculum materials; participation in successful extension programs; obtaining the experience and practice necessary to become a registered professional architect; and active participation in appropriate technical societies.

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    Master's degree in Architecture (or a closely related field) with an architect's license

    Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience.
