Activity Director
Join our dynamic Team! Westwind House is a 40 unit assisted living community. We are looking for an energetic and creative individual to fill this position who loves seniors and is motivated to enrich their lives. This is a Monday through Friday 40-hr week position.
While we prefer candidates with activity experience, we are open to applicants who have worked with seniors and have an understanding of managing an activity schedule, coming up with new ideas for programming and engaging with the residents. This position reports to long-time Executive Director Maria Duarte.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Activities Director to join our team. As an Activities Director, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating engaging activities for our senior residents. Your role will involve promoting social interaction, physical well-being, and mental stimulation. Duties:
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities to meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of our residents
- Coordinate and lead group activities such as games, crafts, exercise classes, and outings
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to assess residents' interests and abilities to create personalized activity plans
- Provide individualized attention and support to residents who require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Organize special events and celebrations to enhance the overall resident experience
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and evaluate program effectiveness
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in senior care, aging issues counseling, dementia care, and social work practices
-Maintains relationships with current community members who conduct programs at Camino Retirement Apartments and develops new relationships.
-Establishes and maintains a good rapport and supportive relationships with all residents, families and sponsors
-Responsible for transporting residents to and from doctor’s appointments and outings.
-Other tasks that the Executive Director requests in support of our assisted living community.
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in senior care or caregiving is required
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and dementia care techniques is highly desirable
- Proven experience in event planning and schedule management
- Familiarity with assisted living regulations and standards
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with residents, families, and staff members
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have a valid driver’s license with no tickets in the last 12 months
-Must pass a criminal background check.
