ASSISTED LIVING ADMINISTRATOR
Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of this job position is to direct the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the Assisted Living Facility to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.
Delegation of Authority
As the Administrator your direct supervisor is the Administrator-VSJ. You are responsible for supervision of facility staff and are accountable for carrying out your assigned duties.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s programs and activities.
2. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the facility.
3. Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the facility.
4. Supervise each department’s supervisor’s completion of performance evaluations for each staff member.
5. Meet with administrative and supervisory staff on a regularly scheduled basis to conduct/participate in staff development programs, discuss department operations, and correct problems and/or improvement of services.
6. Assist department supervisors in the development and use of departmental policies and procedures and establish a rapport in and between departments to promote teamwork.
7. Interpret and review the facilities’ policies and procedures to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc. as necessary.
8. Represent the facility at and participate in top level meetings and in dealings with outside agencies including governmental agencies and third party payers.
9. Make written and oral reports/and recommendations to the Executive Director concerning the operation of the facility.
10. Authorize the purchase of major equipment/supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
11. Assure that the facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are provided and maintained to perform such duties/services.
12. Review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such plan to the Executive Director and ombudsman representative as required.
13. Make routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed.
14. Assist in the recruitment and selection of competent department directors, supervisors, consultants, and other auxiliary personnel.
15. Consult the department directors/supervisors concerning the operation of their departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas and/or improvement of services.
16. Assure that an adequate number of appropriately trained professional and auxiliary personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents.
17. Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, marital status, and veteran status in accordance with company policies.
18. Assist department directors/supervisors in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on –the-job training and orientation programs to assure that current material and programs are continuously provided.
19. Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to other staff personnel as deemed necessary to perform their assigned duties and meet the facility and resident needs.
20. Maintain a good public relations program that serves the best interest of the facility and community alike.
21. Assure that all the facility personnel, residents, visitors, etc. follow established safety regulations to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.
22. Establish a system to monitor, investigate, and prevent accident/incident occurrences.
23. Promote, support, and participated in Continuous Quality Improvement/Performance Improvement Programs, including participation in appropriate committee and sub-committee meetings and individual reviews as required.
24. Assure that all personnel attend in-service training with a focus on OSHA, resident rights, disaster prevention, etc.
25. Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide such information to the Administrator-VSJ and Executive Director.
26. Review resident fee structure trends and make recommendation for changes in the fee structure to Administrative Operations Team.
27. Maintain an adequate accounting system that reflects the operating costs of the facility.
28. Assure that the residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights including the right towage complaints are well established and maintained at all times.
29. Assist in establishing an implementing a Resident Council.
30. Assure the maintenance of resident confidentiality according to facility policy and HIPAA guidelines.
31. Review resident complaints and grievances and make written reports of action taken.
32. Assist with resident admissions and discharges as needed.
33. Assure that all residents receive care in a manner and in an environment that maintains or enhances their quality of life and care.
34. Assure that each resident receives the necessary nursing, medical, and psycho-social services to attain and maintain the highest possible mental and physical functional status.
35. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
36. Maintain a good rapport and act as liaison with families and residents.
37. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep abreast of changes in profession as well as to maintain license on a professional status.
38. Attend required in-services regarding various topics and Corporate Compliance.

Communicates with the medical and nursing staff, and with residents and families.
Willingness to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.
This position involves tasks which may result in exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or to supplies or equipment contaminated with blood, body fluids, or tissues. PHYSICAL AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach and walk frequently (30-60% of the time) during working hours.
Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally (10-30% of the time) during working hours.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position,
Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable senses to function adequately so that the requirement of this position can be fully met.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
EDUCATION
Degree in Public Health Administration, Business Administration, or other health related degree preferred
LICENSURE
Nursing Home Administrator License (LNHA) required for Administrator of Nursing Home
Assisted Living Administrator per Residential Care Facility Licensure Law
EXPERIENCE
Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity in an Assisted Living Facility
Must have in-depth knowledge of State and Federal Nursing Home regulations and nursing practices and procedures
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality resident care and for maintaining sound operation
