Assistant Treasurer assists in the direction and management of an organization's treasury activities. Oversees and directs all aspects of daily treasury activities. Being an Assistant Treasurer ensures financial transactions, policies, and procedures fulfill the organization's objectives, needs, and regulatory body requirements. Assists with the corporate banking, credit, and investment functions. Additionally, Assistant Treasurer requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Assistant Treasurer manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Town of Dennis seeks a fulltime (40 hrs. /wk.) Assistant Treasurer/Collector for the Treasurer/Collector Department. Working under the direct supervision of the Treasurer/Collector, in a very fast-paced environment, the qualified applicant will be responsible for direct supervision of clerical and administrative staff.
Additional essential functions include monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, reconciliation of all Accounts Receivable, assisting the Treasurer/Collector in preparing Tax Taking and Betterment redemption filings, participation in the annual Town audit, performing routine billing adjustments and assist in the Town’s financial transactions.
Requirements: This role requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Finance or Accounting, and three to five years of finance/accounting related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additionally, excellent computer skills, including a mastery of Excel and the ability to work effectively in a busy office with minimal supervision are necessary. MUNIS experience a plus. Ability to multi-task, work within time constraints, prioritize and capability of independent thinking are critical to success within this role. Must be able to be bonded.
