Assistant Student Activities Director assists student activities director in developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive program that delivers quality and diverse campus student activities. Monitors activities of the student government and student clubs. Being an Assistant Student Activities Director typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Student Activities Director. The Assistant Student Activities Director supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. The Village at Waterman Lake, the state's largest assisted living community, is seeking a kind, compassionate, patient individual to oversee the Activities Program in our Courtyard Building. Responsibilities include scheduling, coaching and leading the Activities team; working hands on with mid stage dementia residents in The Courtyard, our specialized residence for the Memory Impaired and/or with skilled nursing residents in The Atrium, our 30-bed nursing home; leading two or more group Activities a day with residents; conducting one-on-one sensory type Activities with the less active and/or more memory impaired residents. (Sensory activities would involve tasks that stimulate one of the 5 senses and could include anything from hand massages, aromatherapy, reading, music, art appreciation and games, depending on the individual's care plan, needs and preferences.)
Ideal candidate for this position is someone with good leadership and communication skills and a deep affinity for the elderly; someone who is a reliable, self-motivated team player. He or she will be passionate, thoughtful and truly committed to spending time with and attempting to engage with residents. Must have geriatric Activities experience. Hours are flexible and should include one or more weekend per week.
